How do I choose to play white or black?

All well and good, but I've been getting a lot of aborted game match-ups when my opponents discover they are to play as Black. Is there monitoring of excessive aborts, to discourage this method of choosing colour?

yeah that's true..many of users just abort or not playing the match because they get Black pieces..
