Ratings

Hey . . I have a question I'm hoping someone can answer. I really enjoy the Chess Cube rating system. I was wondering though . . what would be the median or average rating? Is it 1500 or 1600? Higher than that, or lower than that?

I believe the average rating for chesscube is around the 1500 rating range. I don't have access to such data though. However, usually here on chesscube when you start off, you start with a 1500 rating.

I think it's 1700's or around that.

As far as i have seen...i think it's 1600...almost in all rooms )))) more specifically, between 1550-1650 range ... I donno about the official data though

In the older version of CC, it was poss to see the avg rating. I recall that white usually avg about 1640, and 20 points higher than black. Also, the avg rating was creeping up at about 2-3 points each month, and this was before the rating floor was introduced. I won't be surprised if the avg rating is closer to 1700 now or even over. I remember back when then, 2000+ was a real rarity. FWIW, if in real life, you spot a 2000 rating, it means that you are the top 96-97% of tourny players. 99% wud be 2200. HOpe this helps.
