Re: Bans for cheating - Country list

Dear l_mng,

That is not cheating, since the reason is not that. The reason behind these people who wins you by time after their time going to cero has nothing to do with them cheating, specially in tournaments.

It seems that lately the tournament server has been collapsed in nearly every tournament it is handling. What does it mean to be collapsed? It means that it cannot serve all the different games, stats, leaderboards, and so on at the same time. What does this affect to my game? Sometimes some of the moves are lost in the server due to it being collapsed or nearly collapsed, some other times it enters in a pile and it gets served later some sec later or even nearly a min or more later. Thus it means that, although you are seeing your oponent time going down and down actually sometimes it is your time that is the one which is going down although the oponent move has not reached your pc. Sadly this has nothing to do with your pc or with your oponents.

I suppose that some other times that you have won the game your oponent may have been affected by this same lag stroke, thus don't just accuse people needlessly. First you can try and see the reason behind you losing by time. More information in: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1959

I hope not to have sounded too unfriendly or irrespetous it is just what I think after reading so many times that someone is cheating since his timer went to 0 and I am the one who has lost.

Regards Xabier.

Well of course India has most cheaters when it also has the most players on this site.

Such statistics don't mean much if they are not normalized to an appropriate number, for example, to an average number of daily players from specific country.

Re: Bans for cheating - Country list

If I wanted to play a computer why would I come to this site to do it? I can do that at home by just buying one. There is no doubt that the integrity of this site is at stake if you are cashing out cubits for money. I guess playing someones computer can be considered training, but the one thing I do not like is when a 1300 rated player plays like a 2600 due to a program. This affects my psychological approach to the game itself and takes the personality of my opponent out of his game. If computers are going to be used then they should be registered as a computer, not a 1300 rated human. I fully support this sites approach to cheaters and it makes me respect this site more. Thank you.

Re: Bans for cheating - Country list

Thank you for this list, Sean. I am among those who think this list is informative and useful rather than discriminatory. Rather than taking it it as a static mirror, we have to take is as a dynamic tendency, and then consider the efforts to be done to correct the bad practices and, if possible, change them into best practices. Players from India and Indonesia for example, must know they're under observation, as well as all of the communities here on CC. Perhaps, this indicator will help those players change their behaviour for a better one. Am I too optimistic ? I'd like to remain confident in the human nature ! :) Thank you for the help, anyway !
