Bans for cheating - Country list
Good stuff. Keep up the good work. The numbers are still quite small though.
Re: Bans for cheating - Top country list
OK bryan, agreed, it's a good thing you're doing to remove the cheats !
It was meant to be a constructive suggestion, that's all !

Re: Bans for cheating - Top country list
I also can't see the reason for creating such list.
It's meaningless and might be offensive for honest users from top countries. Btw, I'm Ukrainian from Russia.
And I can see what is that all fuss about cheating? If someone wants to waste one's time, repeating moves of own's computer - let one does this. I don't think that it's really matters who are you playing with - a guy of a computer. Sometimes it might be irritating when a guy use some trick with time, or other thing making you to lose, but I don't care about playing versus computer and not a person.
Thanks chesscube for excellent chess platform and hope to see a lot of improvements and new features and not fighting with cheaters.

Kapitsa, you are totally missing the point on the destructiveness of cheating. With cubits and crowns, users can LITERALLY steal MONEY from other users and ChessCube by cheating. How? Users BUY crowns and cubits and ChessCube CASHES OUT crowns for dollars. So, sure, you may not mind playing against an engine, but if an engine is used to ROB you of something you paid for with your own money, you would likely think VERY differently.
So - we WILL continue to fight cheaters, even if you don't think it is worth our time. The very integrity of our platform is at stake.
Re: Bans for cheating - Top country list
Ok, sorry for that. I was not thinking from that point of view.
Re: Bans for cheating - Top country list
Ha! I've always said that filipinos were the biggest cheaters on CC. (I used to get in trouble for saying this in the Cube Cafe). I think its amusing to find out the stats backed it up. I think there might be more filipinos though, so i would be curious to see what the break down of the Chess Cube population, and then compare it to percentage of cheats from each country. If that makes sense?!

Nice work..keep it up
.
Maybe you can post the usernames of those who were banned along with their country?

Re: Bans for cheating - Top country list
This is obvious.
I find abouit 50% users from philli, india and indonesia.
So, no doubt these three have most cheaters as well as most honest cubers.

Bryan, you might find this pic to be quite relevant. http://bit.ly/eDfLTA
bryan wrote:Adding context would be very problematic since many users from some countries (more often than not the leading ones in this list) also create many accounts - which both boosts the apparent registered user-base from that country and even boosts cheat numbers from that country (same user cheating multiple times), so to adjust for these compounding factors would be close to impossible.
If you are wary of complications, why do you take up a job that's half done?!
bryan wrote:If someone finds this list offensive, then be offended at cheats from your country - we are just publishing data, they are the scumbags doing the actual cheating.
Okay, we shall not fight, let's be "constructive"
Given that you are very interested to continue with this list, can you give the number of "honest" users per nation too, i.e., honest users per country - Top country list?
That, in a way, should help in clearing the facts of people like t0rque!
Or, if the number of registered users cannot be given out, how about, number of cheaters per registered users?
My point is, a famous chess site like CC should not be giving out half facts, if I see any message by the responsible mods of CC, I would love to nod at that, but not for this list!
