Re: Bans for cheating - Top country list

I know how statistics work very well indeed - and I have explained already that giving the numbers a context would be problematic - so interpret the data however you want to. I have already said as much, so you really don't need to explain your concerns further - I understand fully. I don't understand why some people are so sensitive about this - the argument presented is that cheating numbers should be correlated with population size, whereas I would prefer to think that there may actually be truly ethical users and nations out there that could have massive populations and yet few cheaters.

I don't find the list particularly useful or informative myself - but I do like the reminder aspect (as mentioned earlier) for cheats and non-cheats alike, that we are finding and banning cheats.

Dear Bryan, Please refer to your first comment in this thread (Congratulations Philippines, India and Indonesia Something to be very proud of....)

It itself explains why people are sensitive about this AND if you don't find this list useful, why have it or support it or make statements as above?

I have already stated twice why I like the list - go reread my posts.

albinbinoo wrote:Posting such a list is very bad idea, especially considering that these numbers of cheaters per room are not correct. Your system against cheating was listing same IDs every day and like that assigning 1 cheater to one country more then once, this is generally bad Idea. I am very surprised.

What are you talking about? The room ban display messages have absolutely nothing to do with the ban count posted here... They are just a display of recently banned users.

Dear Bryan,

given that am against you in this viewpoint and given that you are a responsible user of CC, I shall assume that you understand what I try to convey and you do not have to reread my previous posts, although you are welcome to.

I too would love this top banned list, when
A comparison is made among the nations, as was given in the list (first post of thread by sean)

But,

When you are comparing, do not compare apples to oranges, i assume you understand the math part (by population i believe you meant the number of registered users per nation)

OK! let's not get into stats anymore.

Let's look at this list in a different way!

Would you like to look at the top country list for non cheaters and call them Honor for Honesty - Top Country List? (essentially subtract the number of cheaters from registered users and you shall get honest users of each nation and then a descending order should give you the ranking)

We know with almost 100% certainty that the cheaters we caught are cheaters, we do NOT know the players we have not caught are not cheaters. Your formula suggests that if a player is not caught cheating, he is not a cheat, which is obviously wrong (he might not have been caught yet)
Moreover, this index would just favour countries whose users love to multinick - and we know which countries these are - typically countries with few premiums (premium users tend not to multinick since they have paid for premium on an ID, so use it). So if one country has users who have 10 usernames per user on average, and another has 2, the 10 usernames per country will look better on your Honor for Honesty scale even if the count of actual cheaters is the same between both countries.

So for all other types of ideas or lists you can think of, they would also have interepretation issues.

Anyway, this topic is getting boring for me now - maybe we will do bans per week by country and registrations per week by country - which still favours the multinicking countries, but at least gives a sense of user numbers for a country...

Bryan, here's the point! when it comes to honesty, multiple user names inflate the ranking of a country and when it comes to cheating, generally multiple user names deflate the ranking of a country (why? cos generally, a new account is made after the earlier account is banned)

So, if you have an objection to the variation I have shown to you, I am sure you can see my objection in the same line of argument as of yours, to the list posted. You cannot ignore the argument of multiple accounts of same user in top cheating list but think of it in top honest nations list. I request you to maintain consistency when comparing among nations.

No topic that questions the integrity of a nation as a whole shall be boring to me.

You cannot do bans per week and registrations per week by country as there is a lag between registration and ban and you definitely do not want to get into the mess of taking growth rate and saturation of CC in different countries and statistically determining the average time taken between registration and lag.

Given, Sean is uncomfortable giving the ratio of cheaters/registered users in a given time period
Given, we want to stick to this list
May i propose that the word "Top" be removed and it shall be read as Bans for cheating - countrywise list and a list be given alphabetically instead of descending number of banned user ids.

Re: Bans for cheating - Top country list

Hello All,

Guys take this effort of CC to disgrace & stop the cheaters :animals-chickencatch: in a good spirit  .Never ever CC have specifically said that a particular country are full of cheaters  .The cheat list is based on the facts. So try to look that in that point.

After All East Or West CC is the best..... :banana-dance:
Always at your service.

I second the motion.
